Bob Hatheway
Dr. Bob Hatheway is founder of The Hatheway Group, one of New Brunswick's best-known entrepreneurs and a person who is passionate about business and his community.
This New Brunswick entrepreneur has successfully helped build vertically integrated companies in aviation, orthodontics and real estate. These businesses include Hatheway Orthodontics, Capital Airways and Orthodontic Supply of Canada. Under the umbrella of The Hatheway Group, these businesses have become an important part of New Brunswick.
Dr. Bob has a passion for business and a strong interest in seeing new ideas realized to help business be done better. In 2001, he began to research the business principles of orthodontics and this resulted in totally revolutionizing these principals focusing on the resource that is the most in need: the doctors time.
The implementation of the ‘doctor time schedule' resulted in the essence of efficiency in the practice of orthodontics. As a result practice revenues increased more than 5 times their 2001 levels and continue to grow. The time it created also allowed Dr. Hatheway to continue to expand his business network acquiring 3 smaller orthodontic practices in NB and Nova Scotia.
In 2001, Dr. Bob co-founded air charter and flight training business Capital Airways. In 2007, he acquired orthodontic supply distribution company Orthodontic Supply of Canada. All businesses recorded double digit growth in 2008.
In addition to his business activities, Dr. Hatheway is an active member of his community. He served as a board member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists from 2000 to 2008, including as President in 2007. He has been the past president of the Canadian Foundation for the Advancement of Orthodontics and was the General Arrangements Chair for the North Eastern Society of Orthodontics annual meeting scheduled for the fall of 2010 in Montreal. He is a committee member with the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, Fredericton Sports Investment Inc., and served as co-chair of the Transforming Care campaign, a campaign to raise money for the York Manor expansion.
In March of 2011, Dr. Bob was appointed the chair of the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation. The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF) is an independent corporation that supports the development of innovation in New Brunswick. The mandate is to strengthen the innovation capacity of New Brunswick by making investments in applied research and new growth-oriented businesses.

Dr. Bob is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Dalhousie University, The University of Western Ontario and the University of Toronto.
In addition to his business interests, Dr. Bob enjoys a number of recreational activities, including fly fishing, golf, boating and hanging out with his family.
